The second-largest grocery chain in America, Albertsons, just reported a 30% drop in net income.

How can this be when everything in the supermarket has gone up in price (along with Albertsons’ revenue)?

Inflation - that’s how.

Because even though people are paying more money at the grocery store, the grocery store actually isn’t making more money.

And this is how inflation leads to layoffs during an economic downturn.
