At the end of the day, it's your business and you have all the same risks that you would have if you started on your own. You may have issues with customers or with employees. You might even have certain regulation barriers to get through in your state. But what you get with a franchise is a proven model and system, but you still have all the risk of starting a business. You're an entrepreneur.
