Earlier, people used to get excited for the railway budget more than the normal budget, how many trains will run, where will the new line be laid, a day before the general budget, the railway minister used to bring his rail budget, friends, a few years ago, on 25 February 2016, the country's last Rail budget was presented. After that the Railway Budget was merged with the General Budget. If we remember the days before 2016, there used to be a lot of excitement about the railway budget, in which the Britishers formed a committee for railway reforms, which was called the Oakworth Committee. This committee said that the GDP of British India mostly depends on railway revenue. But friends, it does not mean that at that time Railways was earning a lot of revenue. After World War 1, similarly the condition of the economy of the whole world was bad, and on top of that India's trousers were wet during the British rule. Neither in this country the Britishers invested in industries, nor in agriculture, petroleum or defence. Railways would have been saved by taking them to invest. This was the reason that the portion of railways used to be 84% in the budget of that time. And now the country has gone so far that the railway budget is a very small fraction of the total budget and more than this the budget has become for highways, petroleum and defence. Yes. Then why till now the Rail Budget was presented separately? Because Railways is connected with the hearts of the people. So friends, with the Railway Ministry, you used to get the Rail Budget for free, so that the Railway Minister used to get a chance to make big announcements and win the hearts of the people. By presenting the Rail Budget, leaders used to get importance equal to that of the Finance Minister.
